Poet James Anthony Meets Year 9

James AnthonyOur Year 9 students enjoyed meeting poet James Anthony (pictured) recently during a special visit to Rainham Library.

Anthony's current project, Shakespeare's Sonnets, Retold, is a contemporary rewrite of all 154 of the Bard's classic love poems. His literal translations – written in the traditional iambic pentameter and rhyming patterns of the originals – aim to breathe new life into Shakespeare's Sonnets and open them up for a modern readership. Stephen Fry has called them a 'dazzling success'.
