GreenPower Racing
Harris Academy Rainham will be taking part in the Greenpower Trust competition. This competition uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
We have built a racing car and are in the process of building two more. Our aim is to enter three teams from KS3 to KS5 aiming to win races against other schools, colleges, and universities.
The students design and make a car that must be aerodynamic, and considers mechanical and electrical engineering. The team of students need to gain knowledge outside of our traditional curriculum, work as a team and be passionate in achieving new challenges.
On the day students will participate in two races lasting 90 minutes each. The aim is to go the furthest distance within the time limit. This is very much dependent on the successful design of the car, student knowledge and teamwork from our students.
We are always looking for keen students to be part of our future races. If you would like to be part of our projects, please enquire at the DT department.
