STEM Careers Day For Year 7
Year 7s were invited to join a virtual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) day delivered by the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, the UK’s trade association for suppliers of processing and packaging machinery.
Our expert presenter was livestreamed into Year 7 lessons this morning and completed two stimulating hands-on activities.
Pupils had to work in teams to design and create a marble run to safely move a product from A to B, which is all about physical construction, stable design, and working to a tight deadline. A big congratulations to the group from 7GRANT for winning this activity.
The second activity required pupils’ teams to brainstorm and come up with an idea for an invention or piece of tech, and then present it which involves creative thinking, product design, branding, and presentation skills. Congratulations to the group from 7STANLEY for winning this competition.
Pupils were also fortunate to hear from role models from within the industry that aimed to inspire them with careers in robotics, machine vision, automation and more. Year 7s were exceptional during this day, they participated well in teams and the feedback from pupils has been really positive.
