Curriculum Award for Harris Academy Rainham
Harris Academy Rainham has been accredited for transforming practice in Principled Curriculum Design within SSAT’s Framework for Exceptional Education.
This award recognises that our curriculum practice is amongst the most exceptional nationally.
As an academy we have been working hard on creating a curriculum which takes our students past their own experiences and allows them to be exposed to the best which has been thought and said.
We want our students to become curious individuals who can question, challenge, and understand concepts, ideas and phenomena in the world around them, participating in society, not just spectating.
We believe a rigorous, knowledge-rich curriculum is the vehicle to achieve this. Our staff, at all levels, have been thoroughly committed to creating, reviewing, tweaking and then delivering a curriculum for our students and now our hard work and excellent practice has been recognised.
A curriculum is dynamic and constantly evolving. The moderator's report said that our staff "recognise that curriculum development is an ongoing process and are committed to continually seeking to improve what they do."
As a school, we will continue to put curriculum at the heart of what we do, ensuring we serve our students and support them to become profoundly human, with greater life chances and choices.
