Year 11 Business Students Become 'Googlers'
Year 11 students visited the Google headquarters in Kings Cross recently, along with Miss Martin, Mr Debruin and Miss Bolger.
The day started with an ice breaker activity, to introduce boys to the company. The first seminar session covered product innovation which gave an exclusive insight into new hardware and software devices being developed at Google.
The next session (pictured left) explained Google’s supply chain, a key topic area for GCSE Business. Students were shown first hand the meticulous planning at the procurement stage which takes place to ensure the production of Google phones is high quality as well as efficient.
There are approximately 1,200 components inside every phone, highlighting the importance of this process.
Students then proceeded to enjoy lunch (below) in the impressive restaurant together with Googlers. This was followed by a tour of the building.
What students said...
“I couldn’t believe how incredible the employee perks were. The restaurant was amazing. The product innovation seminar was really interesting and great for us to exclusively see new products set to be launched.” Lee and Lucas, Year 11 Business students.
“The trip to the organisation was very enlightening. Just by entering the building you could see how motivated the workers were and how diverse the people working there are. The experience really showed how everybody comes from different backgrounds, from someone who didn’t do well in their GCSEs to someone who would maybe have gone to a private school. Not only that but the food was really nice too.” Sami and Ife, Year 11 Business students.
