Study of this qualification as part of Key Stage 4 learning will help students to make more informed choices for further learning, either generally or in this sector.

The BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Enterprise, is for learners who wish to acquire knowledge and skills through vocational contexts by studying the knowledge, behaviours and skills related to researching, planning, pitching and reviewing an enterprise idea as part of their Key Stage 4 learning. The qualification enables learners to develop their technical skills, such as market research skills, planning, promotional and financial skills using realistic work scenarios, and personal skills (such as monitoring own performance, time management and problem solving) through a practical and skills-based approach to learning and assessment.
Assessment. Students will study three components.
Component 1 - “Exploring Enterprises” which will be internally assessed
Component 2 - “Planning for and Pitching an Enterprise Activity” which will also be internally assessed
Component 3 - “Promotion and Finance for Enterprise” which builds upon the other components and is externally assessed.
GCSE Business AQA
This course will provide students with the opportunity to explore real business issues and how businesses work. It focuses on the inside workings of business, looking in more detail at different functions including marketing, production, people, finance and accounting as well as how the environment in which business operates provides opportunities and threats to their primary purpose of making a profit. Students will consider the practical application of business concepts. The units provide opportunities to explore theories and concepts in the most relevant way, through the context of events in the business and economic world.
For the majority of our learners, this subject is compeltely new to them as it is not studied earlier in the academy, so Year 9 is spent as a foundation year, introducing key content and terms used in the world of business in preperation for the GCSE which begins in year 10.
Assessment. Students will be assessed externally across two exams.
Paper 1 - “Influences of Operations and HRM on Business Activity” – a written exam worth 90 marks. 50% of the total grade.
Paper 2 - “Influences of Marketing and Finance on Business Activity” - a written exam worth 90 marks. 50% of the total grade.
