PE
The PE department at Harris Academy Rainham embodies the school values of Belong, Believe and Become.
Further details of the curriculum can be found in the documents downloadable from the bottom of this page.
Belong, as part of a group, team or class. This will develop qualities such as teamwork, co-operation and communication which students will be able to take forward to support them in all aspects of future life.
Believe in their potential to succeed. This value will drive students to achieve the best possible level of performance and achievement during their educational journey.
Become a well-rounded, thoughtful individual who contributes positively to society. Students will learn qualities such as respect and tolerance, through sport, so that they will be able to fulfil their role in society.
During Key Stage 3, we begin to develop individuals who will become successful in numerous areas throughout life, including being physically active and having the skills to sustain employment.
Throughout Key Stage 3 this is achieved through exposure to a range of sporting activities that will develop pupils' skills and attributes not only relating to a sport but which are transferrable too, for example, teamwork, leadership and communication. We also focus on an individual's physical, social and emotional skills to enable to them to develop holistically and therefore to open possible avenues for the future.
During Key Stage 4 Physical Education, pupils engage in a variety of sports and activities in order to develop a passion for being physically active. Pupils demonstrate knowledge and understanding through physical activity, building confidence, resilience and leadership in order to excel. At the heart of Key Stage 4 is health and fitness, allowing pupils to benefit physically, socially and emotionally, whilst developing the necessary skills to become employable.
