Year 11 Inspired by Harris Westminster Visit
Year 11 students on The Harris Academy Rainham Inspiring Sixth Form programme spent a day at Harris Westminster Sixth Form recently.
Students were greeted by sixth formers including former Harris Academy Rainham student Dalir Kosimov. The Year 11s asked questions about life as a sixth former and the different topics sixth form students are currently studying.
Confidence and public speaking
The principal, James Handscombe, then delivered a talk on confidence and public speaking. Our students learnt some excellent tips and then practised writing and delivering a speech (pictured), and got some useful feedback to further improve their skills.
Harris Rainham students ended the visit by having tea with the Principal (pictured below), where they discussed issues such as 'Is slavery still happening today?' and 'Do you judge someone on a first impression?'. Students were also able to speak to the Principal about their upcoming interviews which take place later this week.
The Harris Academy Rainham Inspiring Sixth Form programme aims to provide our Year 11 students with experiences that will help them gain places at top sixth forms in the area.
Good luck to everyone who has an interview at Harris Westminster sixth form!
