STEM Visit to CEME Innovation Centre, Rainham
Twenty nine students attended a STEM event at the CEME innovation Centre in Rainham earlier this week.
The event is designed to let students experience activities relating to science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
Students were challenged to solve problems that engineers and scientists are working on, such as understanding the psychology of fear and how we can use design to improve people’s life chances in dangerous situations.
Students also experienced virtual reality technology and robotics for the first time. During one of the activities, students used their math skills under timed conditions in an 'escape room' task, where to be successful they needed to work well as a team.
What students said...
“I enjoyed the technology and science activities because in the science task we learnt about 'fight or flight' instincts and in the technology activity I liked it when the circuit worked properly.”
“I enjoyed the 'escape room' task because it involved team work.”
Well done to all 29 students who worked together so fantastically on the day: Eudora, Jack, Leo, Oana, Callum, Henry, Max, Omotorera, Nojus, Liepa, Puzinaite, Violet, Adam, Rashika, Benjamin, Tally, Katie, Clariece, Mariam, Sofia, Aaron, Callum, Fraser, Zenel, Joseph, Taliya, Frankie, Kassidy, Lily-Rose.
