Mental Health Week Success - Full Report
Our recent Mental Health Week kicked off with NHS Nurse Julie Borg (right) running a stall in the canteen to highlight importance of eating healthy. What you eat can have a hugh impact on your mental wellbeing, she told students.
We also had very informative assemblies by Havering Mind. Students learnt about ways to identify signs of mental ill health and ways to get help too.
Eastenders star delivers assembly
Mental health campaigner and poet Husain Manawer also visited Harris Academy Rainham together with Eastenders star Bradley Green. Together they delivered an inspiring assembly to raise awareness of Mental Health and how to receive help.
Hussain has worked with our staff and students before, launching the UK's largest mental health festival and setting a Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Mental Health Lesson. Hussain has received an Honorary Fellowship from the prestigious Kings College London for his work in mental health and public sciences.
Our Head Girl, Esther (pictured below), also ran a session on mental health awareness in the library. She has recently written a book with a friend on this topic and explained to staff and students why she felt it was so important to raise awareness of mental health.
Daisy, Year 11, won the Aademy Mental Health Teddy by completing a Mental Health quiz and entering a draw.
Staff also benefited from an Introduction to Yoga and Meditation session organised by Miss Hitchens.
Thank you to all the staff and students who helped to organise this important week and make it such as success.
