Year 9 Explore Future Options - South Essex College Presentation
Year 9 students had a presentation from South Essex College in January, where they learned about the different Post 16 options and pathways available to them at the end of Year 11, including A-Levels, Apprenticeships and T-Levels.
The presentation helped our students to become more curious about their future options and started to inform them about opportunities beyond Year 11.
This assembly formed part of our careers and PSHE programme to help support our students with the Key Stage 4 options process. We want our students to be as knowledgeable as possible about the options available to them now as they end Key Stage 3, and how Key Stage 4 options start to link with Post 16 options, including routes into work, training and other vocational and academic opportunities.
Such experiences, information and advice further helps our students to manage the options decision-making process and make confident choices in terms of which subjects to study at Key Stage 4.
What students said they learned from the event
- "That you don't always have to go to college and that you can get an apprenticeship."
- "I now know what T Levels are."
- "About other possible colleges to go to when I finish Year 11, depending what I want to do."
- "That it is a good idea to start thinking about what to do at the end of Year 11 as this might help with options."
- "That if things don't go to plan there are many possible options available."
- "That you don't have to go to college and study A-levels, you can do apprenticeships or T-levels as well."
- "How many jobs that offer apprenticeships."
Thank you to South Essex College for providing our students with a really informative, beneficial and enjoyable experience.
