TrustFord Workshop - Inspiring Automotive Women
TrustFord, the world's leading Ford dealer, visited the academy earlier this month to deliver a presentation to the female students in Year 10.
The aim was to inspire women to have careers in the automotive industries and break down stereotypes.
TrustFord aims to achieve a better gender balance by filling 30% of leadership positions with women by 2030, through a “30 by 30” strategy. The TrustFord strategy is to enable girls in school to meet women in the automotive industry, because “if they can see it they can be it”.
It was an interesting and inspiring experience for the students and a great opportunity to learn about the vast number of different roles and apprenticeships within the sector. The students asked some great questions including:
- "What made you choose a job in the industry?"
- "What is a typical salary?"
- "Do you personally feel women are treated differently in the industry?"
- "Do you offer work experience for students?"
The speakers commented on how well behaved and engaged our students were throughout the workshop. They were really impressed with their maturity and the questions asked.
Thank you to the representatives from TrustFord for providing our students with this opportunity.
