Selected Yr8 and 9 students had the pleasure of meeting Holocaust Survivor Leslie Kleinman at Rainham Library yesterday. An inspirational true account of courage, survival and the power of prayer.

Quote from a student who attended 'Leslie (the speaker) told us about his life in a village in Poland when he was young. How his father was taken and never to be seen again. Then he told us about how he was taken to a concentration camp. How a woman and her new born baby were killed. That he was told to say he was seventeen as otherwise, they would have less chance of staying alive. His wife read a poem and then he answered our questions. He presented photos for us to look at and we were able to see his tattoo on his arm. It was an amazing and thought provoking experience to meet someone who could tell us so much about what life was like under Nazi rule.'   

Year 8 Leah Kinsella added "The trip to Rainham Library where a Holocaust survivor shared his story was a very interesting experience. He helped to broaden our knowledge and told us things that we had never expected or heard before. Overall, meeting a Holocaust survivor was very eye opening for a lot of the people there and have us a sense of how horrific the Holocaust actually was."
