Students Inspired By 'Lit in Colour'
Key Stage 3 students visited the school library over a two week period recently to engage with approximately one hundred novels and non-fiction titles by authors of colour.
HAR has been very fortunate to have won these books from a recent competition by the Lit in Colour initiative of publishers Penguin. We plan to have these fabulous titles weaved within our curriculum so that students can feel a sense of belonging.
Key Stage 3 students learn about over 100 more titles by authors of colour that are now in our library.
What students said...
"It's really fun, and giving students a variety of different authors to read. Students feel a sense of belonging and you get to understand what people of colour go through."
"Inspirational and educational for students."
"Not many schools represent people of colour in literature. We are so lucky to have this collection here at HAR."
