Harris Academy Rainham is a 'Leading Edge' School
Harris Academy Rainham has been awarded Leading Edge status 2020-2021, by SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers network.
Leading Edge is a national network for high-performing schools with a commitment to raising achievement by:
- working in partnership
- innovation
- sharing practice within and beyond the network.
The accreditation process involved a peer review from another Leading Edge school and a moderation visit from an exceptional former headteacher. To be awarded Leading Edge status, Harris Academy Rainham had to show we were exceptional for teaching and learning, professional practice and leadership.
"We are very proud to have won this recognition and look forward to working closely with other Leading Edge schools to improve our practice even further," said Principal Gareth Stananought.
Fresh perspective on school improvement
A steering group of headteachers from the network ensures that Leading Edge continues to meet the needs of its members, and meets regularly with key policymakers such as Ofsted, the Department for Education and the Education Endowment Foundation to ensure the network’s views are represented on a national platform.
SSAT’s Framework for Exceptional Education is at the heart of Leading Edge. This framework provides a rigorous mechanism for self-review and action-planning, offering a fresh and positive perspective on school improvement.
Leading Edge member schools can be recognised for their ‘Transforming’ practice through accreditation.
